Mary MacNamara and Sorcha Costello are a mother-and-daughter duo on concertina and fiddle from County Clare in western Ireland. Their music is deeply rooted in the East Clare regional style of Irish traditional music, with their trademark steady rhythm and swing. Mary’s concertina playing is highly respected nationally and internationally, and she is one of the most sought-after concertina teachers. Mary has recorded three solo albums and two duet albums, the most recent being “The Lady’s Cup of Tea,” which is a duet album with Sorcha. Sorcha has just released her solo fiddle album, “The Primrose Lass,” which follows being named TG4 Young Musician of the Year in 2021. Over the last few years Sorcha has become one of Ireland’s most in-demand fiddle players and teachers, playing at festivals worldwide, including New Zealand, Australia, and the USA. Mary and Sorcha have a deep musical understanding, producing a magical, rhythmic flow in their music.

Performance Skills Workshop, 2:30 pm

Mary and Sorcha will co-facilitate this workshop focusing on playing Irish tunes you already know, but performing them at a much higher level. We can all play well at home, but performing for others can be daunting. Learn how to maintain rhythm, quality, ornamentation, and flow, whether playing with friends, performing for an audience, or starting a set in a big session. Location: The Boarding House (see ticket for address)

Irish Music Session, 9:30 pm

If you play an instrument and know 3 or 300 tunes, you are welcome to pull up a chair and join in. Or just be part of the conversation between tunes! Location: The Boarding House
